Design your year for experiences
Because goals are fine... but moments are what your soul remembers.

There’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot as we move through January.
Most people enter a new year armed with goals, declarations, and big plans—especially around money, health, or “finally getting serious.” And I get it. We want change. We want momentum. We want to feel proud of ourselves.
But here’s what tends to happen:
By mid-January, a huge percentage of people have already softened, stalled, or abandoned those audacious goals—not because they’re lazy or broken… but because goals can feel heavy.
Goals can feel like pressure.
Goals can pull you out of your life while you’re trying to build a better one.
So I’ve been asking a different question:
What if the thing we designed this year around wasn’t goals… but experiences?
When I look back at 2025, the moments that truly lit me up weren’t a checklist of accomplishments. They were experiences—real ones.
Meeting my friend Christine halfway between our states and working side-by-side with coffee and laptops.
Spending a long weekend at our friend Sue’s retreat center.
Playing with my dog.
Walking in the mornings.
Hosting Stand Up & Stand Out again and remembering how fun it is to be with people, laughing, practicing, showing up.
Working with clients and witnessing those powerful shifts—the moment the old story breaks and something new becomes possible.
Those are the moments that nourished me.
And when you zoom out, even the “big goals” we set are usually just a doorway to an experience.
More money… for freedom, generosity, ease.
Better health… for energy, confidence, longevity.
A stronger business… for impact, creativity, and the joy of building something that’s yours.
So the invitation this week is simple:
Don’t just set goals.
Choose experiences that light you up.
Because you can hit a goal and feel empty…
but you can live an aligned experience and feel alive.
Life is delicious. 🍑

3 Quotes to Ponder:
“Goals measure outcomes. Experiences measure aliveness.”
“You can build a life that looks good… and still feel starved inside. Choose what nourishes you.”
“Meaning isn’t something you find. It’s something you create—moment by
moment.”
Affirmation
I am intentionally creating meaningful experiences that nourish my soul and align with who I’m becoming.
(If you want the shorter version for your mirror today: “I create meaningful experiences.”)
Thought Experiments to Try Today
1. Think about last year for a moment.
What were the top three experiences that truly lit you up—where you felt most like yourself?
Now ask:
What do those experiences reveal about what you actually value?
2. Imagine this year is designed around how you want to feel.
If you had to choose three “experience words” for 2026 (peace, adventure, connection, play, devotion, freedom, beauty, creativity… you choose), what would they be?
Let those three words become your compass.
Action Step Journal Prompt
If I designed this year around experiences that light me up, what would I choose to feel, explore, or try?
Write without editing. List the small ones and the big ones.
Then circle the one that feels the most delicious.
That circle is a clue.

I’m getting ready to reopen Rewrite Your Money Story, and I’m expanding it to be even better than the last round.
Because if you’re creating a year full of meaningful experiences, it helps to have the financial foundation to support them without stress running the show.
This isn’t about budgeting harder or forcing hustle.
It’s about shifting the story underneath money, so you can feel steadier, clearer, and more in charge of your choices.
